This Gulmohar tree is quite a resplendent sight in full bloom and looks equally impressive in its current skeletal form, awaiting the fresh leaves of spring. Having observed it through all seasons last year (during my numerous evening walks) I can't help but appreciate how cycles of change and growth are so effortless in Nature...perhaps the only thing that resists change in life is - the conditioned human mind.
While sketching, I was thinking...a hint of color might just make this drawing a bit more interesting...but there was not a single leaf in sight. Minutes before completion, a beautiful Brahminy Kite glided elegantly and perched itself on a branch, ensuring a wonderful finishing touch by Nature.

>Aarti,
A lot of other trees with red blossoms, like some in America and Oceania region are also called by that name. It's a nice folk description, that came before Botanical nomenclature.
